           Breast Screening (Well Women)

We provide Well Persons Screening and Advice to all of our patients. We currently have provision in our waiting room to provide DIY health screening. On your next visit to the surgery, why not check your own blood pressure, height and weight.

Your general health will be assessed to include your lifestyle and family history. Any condition that is diagnosed will be addressed by the practice appropriately. You will be given advice and guidance about your lifestyle to reduce any risk of developing health conditions such as diabetes, stroke or coronary heart disease.

Your weight, height, blood pressure and urine will be checked. You may require a blood test at which point we can make an appointment with our Healthcare Assistant.

Cervical Smears (Well Women)

Cervical smears allow for early detection of changes or abnormalities in the neck of the womb. Good screening procedures allow for timely action to prevent cervical cancer.

Women between 25 and 64 are invited to attend their Doctor or the Practice Nurse for a cervical smear.

Any abnormal cervical smear results will be followed up by the practice jointly with the National Screening Service.

We strongly recommend that you attend any appointments made for a cervical smear.

When making an appointment, please ensure that you have completed your menstrual cycle before the cervical smear date.

When you attend the surgery for your smear, we will also give you a breast examination where you will be shown how to examine yourself in your own home. We strongly recommend that you examine yourself at the same point in your menstrual cycle each month.

For patients over the age of 50 you should receive an invitation for a mammogram at the Charing Cross Hospital. In the unlikely event of you not receiving an invitation, please call the:
